Its beginning to begin..
Its more than six months, for Techtatva 2008. And we want it to make it the best. Since this is my pre-final year in college, and next semester is going to be my last, Its also a personal ambition to make Techtatva a never-happened-before event.
The other day, RookShop and me were participating in NIT Trichy’s Annual Techfest, and must say- it was awesome. Well, we only participated in an online coding contest and didn’t quite do much except earn 100 points, but then that gave us a feeling why we shouldn’t have such an event(and of such robustness) at Techtatva 2008.
We’re also working on a complete revamp of Stockastica.com, the live virtual stock market game which is unique in its own way, because it uses LIVE data from NasDaq.com, and is one of its kind. We’re planning to provide our competitors with a richer GUI built in Flex.
As far as the Techtatva 2008 is concerned, we are working on it, and we hope to have it up and running in a month’s time. We plan to make it very very dynamic with enhanced GUI’s and we plan to use ASP.NET this time.
Any feedbacks and suggestion would be welcomed at :

You wrote a comment. Isn’t this publicity enough?
(P.S. you could have done without that *P.S.* in your comment)

hi,
i am very happy to see that people want to make techtatva 08 a grand success !!!!!!!
since u r in pre-final yr wanted to make a contribution in ur endeavour by suggesting that we need to bring some intellectual or a famous personality to our campus during the techfest in order to attract the attention of every1 ,make the event even bigger and this way even the 1st yr people will also get invovlved. We need get every1 in the college to participate n specially the 1st yrs.WE need to make our tech fest even bigger by bringing in more outstation teams ,making the event more competitive .

“but then that gave us a feeling why we shouldn’t have such an event(and of such robustness) at Techtatva 2008.”
Just showcases a worrying trend in technical festivals around the country – the endeavor to make events “easier” in order to increase participation and popularity. While that might be an honorable goal in itself, it should be remembered that events like algorithm based programming contests are meant to be tough and for the elite.

@Anurag Hey tnx:) . Yeah we ARE trying to rope in popular personalities and also planning to get some technosexuals and corporates to speak up via video conferencing.. Lets see what comes out of it. Thanks for your suggestions by the way. We’re open to more such suggestions.

@ The . Hi meandmylife , While you’re pointing out a possible problem that might just be there, We had , and still have a completely different view point.
We planned to incorporate an online coding contest for techtatva, as building such a system is going to very challenging. And FYI, the one that inspired us had a set of problems that noOne could solve more than 7/10. And I am talking about coders like SnapDragon and Tomek (World #1 ) were participating in the event.
Also, the organizer was a professional friend of mine, and is rated #1 coder from India by TopCoder. In fact I also had plans of getting him for a workshop on algorithms to our college. but he has moved to the US to work at Redmond, after not taking up an offer from Mountain View.
Popular? Yes, we do want to make it. Easy? Do an intelligent google search, and you”ll know what I am talking about.
Thanks for the concern anyway. Its great to meet people with opinions. And nice to see people from Guwahati checking in.[:)]
